Best Google Business Profile management software: choose by the job, not the brand
No single product wins for every profile. The tools below do different jobs: weekly upkeep, listings, review replies, review requests and client reporting. This guide sorts them by the job and by how each bills, using each vendor's own pages as read on October 29, 2026. Amounts stay on those pages.
Google's own help says Business Profile is a tool that can be used at no charge, so its free tools come first. Rank trackers and general SEO suites belong in their own comparisons and are left out here.
Start here: what Google's own free tools already cover
- Verify the business, which Google says makes the profile more likely to show in results.
- Complete the profile: address or service area, hours including special hours, category and attributes such as parking.
- Reply to reviews, and ask for them with a Google link or QR code.
- Add photos and videos, and check the performance insights in your profile.
Tools sorted by the job they do
- Weekly upkeep for one profile or a few: Localo. Its pages list guided weekly tasks, a 17-check audit, drafted review replies, edit protection and a plan for a single profile. See the Localo review.
- Listings, citation monitoring and review requests: BrightLocal. Its pricing page sets Track, Manage and Grow tiers by number of locations, and Grow adds review requests by email, text and in-store campaigns.
- Buy one tool at a time: Whitespark. Its pricing page says its software and services are sold individually. It describes its Local Platform as managing Google Business Profiles, preventing unwanted updates and editing locations in bulk, and it lists a separate reinstatement service for suspended profiles.
- Reviews first: Birdeye and GatherUp. Birdeye's pricing page asks for your location count and contact details instead of listing amounts. GatherUp lists plans for one location, several locations and agencies, with Review Defense and Listings Management as separate options.
- Per-location pricing for agencies and brands: Synup. Its pricing page says every plan includes every feature and that the plan is set by the number of locations you manage.
- Listings and reviews in one dashboard: Moz Local. Its page describes listing sync, listing health monitoring and one place to read and reply to reviews.
Cost models you will meet
- By connected profile and optimization seat: Localo.
- By location, in three tiers: BrightLocal.
- By tool, with each sold on its own: Whitespark.
- By location band, with every feature included: Synup.
- On request, after you enter your location count: Birdeye.
- By plan for one location, a per-location rate for several and custom agency pricing: GatherUp.
- Amounts change with location count and billing period, so compare totals at your own count rather than headline numbers.
Criteria that decide the fit
- Profiles: one, a handful or dozens decides the plan family.
- Job: weekly guidance, listings, review replies, review requests or client reports.
- Edit protection: whether the tool watches suggested edits to your name, phone, address and closed status.
- Client access: roles and white-label reports if you serve clients.
- Compliance: a tool must not offer incentives for reviews or screen who gets asked, because Google's rules bar it. See how to get more Google reviews.
When Google's free tools or a person is enough
A single profile that is verified, complete and answered promptly may not need software. A tool then buys convenience, not a better position, because Google says there is no way to request or pay for a better local ranking.
If you hire a provider instead, Google's guidance recommends learning how the profile works first, asking about past experience, working with one provider at a time, reviewing performance monthly and getting the services and costs in writing. Its warning signs are no performance data, a guaranteed placement, a claim to work for Google, threats and charges above the agreed price. Localo vs BrightLocal compares two paid options in detail.
The evidence behind this buying guidance
This guide draws on Localo pricing page, Localo page, Google Business Profile audit, Localo page, Google review management, BrightLocal pricing page. Merchant-controlled records describe the provider’s own capabilities, terms or standards; they do not independently validate those claims. Other cited records provide additional context. A different publisher or a research, regulatory or certification label does not by itself establish independence, relevance or product validation.
